Floorplans

My love affair with a great floor plans started my first week of design school in Basic Drafting, where as fate would have it, I met Emily. Those first weeks of school were a crash course: window sashes are drawn this way, wall thickness is shaded just so, doors are drawn in this fashion. Countless hours we spent alone pencils and vellum in hand. Of course these days I do 100% of my drawing in AutoCad (my second love) but my appreciation for blueprints and well laid out floor plans still remains (case in point, see SITE's logo at the right...)

When I saw these on Poppytalk, it was mad love at first sight. Serving trays + floor plans = YES. Fish's Eddy strikes again. Of course.

Funny how you love CAD and I hate it...I loved the hours of sharpening, erasing, drawing (while twisting for that perfect edge) and repeating. I think I was the only one who kept a beer in the utensil tray. Of course, I was one of the few so anal that I wouldn't draft with the "soiled" tables at school. I am so glad I met you right away, it would have been a shame to go through school without you by my side.
Doesn't that seem like a million and a half years ago?

these days with running the store, tending to life, etc....i cannot fathom enjoying that ritual again when i can draw so quickly and so easily alter what needs changed. but that's modern life for you.

it was about 1.5 million years ago, yes. or four. you decide.

only four? Objects in the rear view mirror are closer than they appear.
