What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Yesterday I was having one of those days where instead of feeling excited about the bit of progress I had made in my professional life I was feeling a million miles away from where I want to be (and where it seemed - other people had made it so easily.) So, for anyone reading who has been there, here are a few words of encouragement for us.

Experience is not what happens to you; it is what you do with what happens to you.
~ Aldous Huxley

Begin somewhere; you cannot build a reputation on what you intend to do.
-- Liz Smith

Don't wait for something big to occur. Start where you are, with what you have, and that will always lead you into something greater.
-- Mary Manin Morrissey

Everyone has inside them a piece of good news. The good news is you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!
-- Anne Frank

Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow that talent to the.... place where it leads.
-- Erica Jong

Goals are dreams with deadlines.
-- Diana Schart Hunt

I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do.
-- Helen Keller

I can do no great things, only small things with great love.
-- Mother Teresa

I discovered I always have choices and sometimes it's only a choice of attitude.
-- Judith M. Knowlton

I've got a woman's ability to stick to a job and get on with it when everyone else walks off and leaves it.
-- Margaret Thatcher

So celebrate what you've accomplished, but raise the bar a little higher each time you succeed.
-- Mia Hamm

The greatest part of our happiness depends on our dispositions, not our circumstances.
-- Martha Washington

You can't just sit there and wait for people to give you that golden dream; you've got to get out there and make it happen for yourself.
-- Diana Ross

Dreams are necessary to life.

my dear dear em....that was a crazy conversation we had, eh? so this is what i really wanted to say about all of that...

its really about choices. we all face them, but really never give them due credit. I have to make crazy choices all the time: visit the ill family and close the store OR stay in queens, trying to sell things on July 4th holiday weekend? Build a store awning or build up inventory? Open a store in queens or elsewhere?

And for you, the same... move to cali to have a mental break, be near friends and family or do the daily grind and climb your way to the top routine in a big big city? Live for love or money? create perfection slowly or have mediocrity now?

The people we know who are "achieving" so much (though non has actually compleated anything that would be considered an achievement) made a series of choices they have to live with. We might not have made those same choices given their complications. We have our own paths to follow, our own choices, AND our own timeline.

I love these quotes. That quote by Anne Frank breaks my heart. Thanks-and I wish you clarity in making your choices. Paying attention to my dreams, both at night (and in the waking dream of life) is often the key for me in knowing what to choose. Forget logic!
